After Kicking off the album with growling blues rocker "Leavin you behind"
Sharla downshifts to more traditional singer songwriter fare thereafter. Subtle percussion touches and a minicing flute enliven "The Monkey Song", a sly environmental desecration protest song. Other tunes keep the politics to a personal level with Shore's powerful voice going from huskey to falsetto--often in the space of one line--shown off to great effect.

Sharla Shore's got the blues. Shore's also got a great voice-smooth and sultry, with barely a hint of country twang. Shore's blues influences are apparent on every track, but she's highly adaptable and incorporates a wide variety of musical styles into her songs. Musically, Shore does it all- blues with a touch of honky-tonk ( "Leaving you behind") acoustic , jazzy folk (" The Monkey song"), rock ("Worth a million"), country ("The road of life"), and even piano ballads
(" Different Roads").
Shore is also a consummate performer. she's been performing since 1979, and in 1997 she played for over 30,000 people at Washington Pride Day in Washington DC. She also plays at Amsterdam every other friday night, and if her live performances are as energetic and eclectic as her CD, Sharla Shore's show is definitely worth seeing.
